Photo transfer to wood

So over the weekend I decided to try a new crafting project. When I visited my cousins house a few weeks ago I saw she had pictures of the family and her dogs, transferred onto pieces of wood. When I asked her where she had it made she said she did it herself! So I thought I would try my hand at it. This is how I did it:

What you will need:

laser printer pictures

unfinished wood

matte gel medium

modge podge

paint brush

I started by printing the photos I wanted to transfer with a laser printer. I didn’t have a laser printer, so I went to my local fed-ex and had them print the pictures for me. Then I went to Michaels and got pieces of unfinished wood, matte gel medium, modge podge (I chose matte finish), paint brush, and paint if you would like.

Next I cut out the pictures and spread the gel medium on the pictures. Make sure to apply enough of the gel medium to be sure the picture transfers to the wood. (I didn’t put enough around the edges of the dog picture and some of the ink didn’t transfer.

Then I let it sit overnight to allow for the ink to set. The following morning I took a warm wet rag and wiped off the paper.

Then you want to apply the modge podge finish to seal it Annnnnnnd, TAAAAA DAAAAA! Your photo has been transferred to wood 😀
